City stockbroker Mr Jerebohm and his wife are seeking a rural retreat where they can host shooting parties and afternoon tea on the lawn. So Pop Larkin - junk dealer, family man, and Dragon's Blood connoisseur - sells them Gore Court, a crumbling pile of a country mansion, for a tidy profit. Now he can build his family that swimming pool they want. But the Larkins' new neighbours aren't quite so accepting of country ways - especially Pop's little eccentricities.
