When Texas Ranger Will Kirkpatrick asks the judge to show leniency to Jonas Peterson, a young outlaw who saved Will's life, the judge suspends his five year sentence and places Jonas on probation for one year in Will's custody. Although reluctant at first, Will is soon grateful for the arrangement.
